Love is What We Need

Love Abounds

“Love is What We Need”

There’s that song by The Beatles ” All You Need Is Love “.
I know.  Just Another Love song.
Yet , What happens when Love is in the mix?

We should love ourselves first. We are then in a place to share that love with others.

We can feel love for someone special to us.  We can chose to create a life together.

We can be in love with doing something specific.
It can turn into a passion for doing work in the world, that in the end makes a difference.

Love brings people and things together, where fear and anger break them apart.
Love helps healing, where hate break us apart.

We can open up ourselves to someone, or something in the world when we turn toward it with love.

My husband was stationed years ago in Italy when he was in the military service.  One of the gifts he brought home to his family then were some beautiful animal rugs.
He held onto the one with Lions on it.
When we got married we hung the Lions in our livingroom.
One day he pointed out that the tails of each lion were each covered by a plant in the art work.  He wondered if the tails were close to each other or not.
That was one small detail left for the viewer to decide on.
So he asked me to do a painting of it but make it so one could see the tails.
So I did.

Here’s my painting of it.

Lions

Tails close to each other.
We were engaged at that time.
We’ve been married over 20 yrs now.  Through lifes ups and downs, love has helped us be open to each other and the possibilities.

Love is there.

Love is what we need.

Best,
LG

See the Good

Happy New Year

“See the Good”

A new year.

The month of December was and usually is a time for me (and of course for a lot of people) to reflect on the past year.  One could easily quote the movie title here, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”.  Reflecting can bring up the good, bad and, hopefully not so much, the ugly memories. Sorting through them can clear one’s mind.

Sometimes we find it too easy to look at what went wrong, or what went bad.  We should reflect on the good memories as well. Those good things should be looked at and given attention.
There was a time in my life, quite a while ago, where I had a lot of challenges.  I remember thinking, “This is not what I want in the future”.  At that time one of the things I had to do was to break off a relationship I was in. And I did.

As I worked through the feelings of seeing what I didn’t want, there came a point I found where it occurred to me that I had to make a decision. “What do I really want?”.
With effort over time, I have achieved what I do want.
Life does have its twist and turns, yet we can make decisions that change it for the better to have more of what we really want.

PS: oh I thought I’d share one other thing.

My youngest daughter at times has mentioned she likes the piano.
Well, presently, we don’t have a keyboard,  The one we had died,
So she downloaded a Piano App to her phone.  She is liking it a little.

Yet for me an App just doesn’t quite do it.  I tried the piano app, yes.  But after having had piano lessons when I was young for five years and enjoying playing the piano, the App just didn’t cut it,
Similar to some people who still like to pick up a book and hold it, and turn the pages as they read. There’s something wonderful about holding and feeling something physical.   Well, that’s what happens to me when I play a real piano.  I like sitting down on the piano bench, feeling the keys under my fingers. I know enough to know what sound each key makes. I hit a key to hear that note. Then further it to hitting more keys and playing them to hear the music that I want to hear.

I’m sharing a short  YouTube video:
Perfectly Imperfect
This was taken a couple years ago when I was feeling a need to get more out of my comfort zone.

Best,
LG

Special touch, hand calligraphy

Gearing up for my youngest daughters Bat Mitzvah.

So I’m putting my hand calligraphy skills to work again.

I did my oldest daughter’s Bat Mitzvah invitations.
And my hubby and I’s wedding invitations.

Back in 1996, for a special touch for our upcoming wedding, I sent my finance a special invite in a wedding envelope.
