Happy Trails: horseback riding on vacation

“Happy Trails: horseback riding on vacation”

One great way to explore nature and a surrounding area is by horseback. There are many places that offer horseback riding for vacationers.

Horseback riding is an ideal way of getting closer to nature and seeing the natural floral/fauna of a country or region.

Some of my own wonderful experiences have included riding through mountain trails to find animals, such as a wild turkey or a deer.Trails that wind and lead to open fields where the view on the surrounding area could be seen.

On trails where the level of riding is more advanced one can enjoy a brisk pace down a path shaded by trees on both sides or across one of the open fields. It’s a thrill to feel the wind in your face and powerful movement of the horse beneath you.

Horses, strong and gentle, can bring us to places that give us a sense of peace. In these natural places where beauty abounds one can find a beautiful and peaceful place to relax. These are places where we can see the earth and sky at a different angle.

Even the horse’s movement can be soothing. The gentle swing and sway in the saddle can relax and release tension.

The benefits are many.Being in a natural area can help us relax and enjoy our surroundings. It’s a chance to clear our minds from the busy-ness of our usual days.Add horses and you have a way to explore where cars/trucks may not be able to go.

Schedule time to enjoy an area and have horses as your transportation.

Cantering on the Trail

“Cantering on the Trail” is a pen and ink/charcoal drawing of two cowboys cantering down the trail  I spend a week at a ranch on one of my vacations.  I took photos around the ranch and a couple of photos of the cowboys riding  their horses. I created this image from one of my photos.

Prints available.
