\u201cArt and the Viewer\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I recently participated in Xos: Open Studios: Pawtucket.
\nI set up my display of art work and gift items in a downtown old mill.
\nIt\u2019s always sort of interesting for me to watch people come by my booth and look at the art work.<\/p>\n

Great art gives the viewer something to look at and ponder.<\/em><\/p>\n

In creating the art there are details as composition, color, light and dark values, techniques, etc.<\/p>\n

The viewer gets to see the work as completed.
\nThe viewer see what he\/she sees in the work. There may be feelings or thoughts that come up in the moment of looking at a work.
\nI notice that people look and then go for a closer look, seem to ponder, and then smile and \u201cThank\u201d me.
\nSometimes there is a conversation. While other times it\u2019s just a brief connection.
\nEither way it\u2019s good.
\nArt is for viewing and seeing. The Viewer is as essential a part of the experience as the artist who created it.<\/p>\n

Just some thoughts.<\/p>\n

\nDarla Dixon organized a group of artists who will create no-charge compassionate portraits for the families who have lost a loved one in Operation Iraqi Freedom\/Operation Enduring Freedom. We are looking for artists to join our efforts, and also for non-artists who will help spread the word about this free service and token of our gratitude to families who have sacrificed so much.”
