The non-profit farm I work for will be adding different hippo-therapies for children, veterans and families.
\nI feel blessed to be able to witness these kind of things.<\/p>\n

I know I’ve had times in my life when I had:
\nlow self esteem
\nlack of confidence
\nteetering on a thin line of depression<\/p>\n

I relate the feeling to “trying really hard to keep my head above water”.
\nInteresting enough I did have a phobia to being in water over my head.
\nTwo years after being married my husband and I took the steps to “making a family”. We did have some challenges, as I had to deal with some infertility.
\nYet I always had hope.
\nWith the thought of children, I decided I didn’t want to be afraid of the water any more and took adult swimming lessons. I became comfortable swimming.<\/p>\n

I still think of depression in a way of “reaching to keep one’s head above the water”.<\/p>\n

Looking back I also think it is rather fitting that I am working at a therapeutic riding horse farm.
\nI haven’t had the pleasure of having horses \u00a0all throughout my life.
\nYet there have been times when I have been around horses and felt it’s benefited me immensely.
\nBuilding confidence
\nBuilding self-esteem
\nclimbing out of those deep blues-border line depression<\/p>\n

I feel a sense of connection-grounded-ness- real-honest.<\/p>\n
