\u201cTouching lives with Art\u00a0\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Within the past month I did a couple of portraits that I was commissioned to do.
\nThough each commission had it’s own situation, there was a strong feeling and reminder of how art has the power of connecting and bringing people together in the most wonderful and amazing\u00a0way.<\/p>\n

The first portrait was a gift to a neighbor’s family member who had a dog for a number of years. This woman had recently bought a house in the neighborhood. \u00a0So there was a double celebration- wonderful dog of 9 yrs and a house.
\nTo add to this experience was the fact that my family has gotten to know these wonderful folks and met this little dog back when he was a puppy. \u00a0Our girls just love him.
\nSo creating a portrait of this dog was even more special.
\nThe family presented the gift to her at the “dog b-day”- “house warming” party.
\nEveryone was very moved by the portrait I created.
\nAnd I was very touched by it all too.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Wonderful Karma moving around.<\/p>\n

Oh, yet there was\u00a0more good karma swirling in this time.<\/p>\n

Second portrait was a soldier portrait.
\nI offer a service for military families to do a memorial portrait of a family member that\u00a0died while serving our country.
\nThis “Soldier Portrait project” was actually started by another artist I knew in a Pencil portrait group. Though this artist found she couldn’t continue running this project, I chose to continue on doing these portraits and project.
\nI have done at least 3 portraits along the way.<\/p>\n

This one is my fourth.
\nI receive the information from a form that is filled out by client. \u00a0I then email and touch base with them.
\nOver and over these portraits have brought out poignant moments.
\nThere is the discussion with the client about the portrait and the military person… \u00a0details on medium and size.
\nCollecting any other info necessary.
\nI create the portrait.
\nI send a thumbnail image for the client to review.
\nThen prepare with much care to send it to the family.
\nThroughout the process of \u00a0connecting, talking, creating and sharing there are moments that bring out the best in each other.<\/p>\n

And of course I’m grateful to the good karma back to me in response. \u00a0A circle of positive energy.<\/p>\n

Nothing better than spreading positive karma to others where needed.<\/p>\n

Soldier Portraits<\/strong>
\nDarla Dixon organized a group of artists who will create no-charge compassionate portraits for the families who have lost a loved one in Operation Iraqi Freedom\/Operation Enduring Freedom. We are looking for artists to join our efforts, and also for non-artists who will help spread the word about this free service and token of our gratitude to families who have sacrificed so much.”<\/p>\n
