Summer has wound down.\u00a0 September is here and the girls are back to school. Oldest in 2nd<\/sup> grade and youngest entering kindergarten.\u00a0 Both girls are in the same\u00a0 school.\u00a0 How amazing.<\/p>\n

There was definitely a \u00a0crispness to the air signaling the change.<\/p>\n

A change for me as well.\u00a0 First time in a long time, I\u2019ll have more of a full day to myself.\u00a0 Some feelings of \u201cwhat-to-do-with-my-days” swirl in my mind. \u00a0Oh, It\u2019s not like I don\u2019t have anything to do, but more like, \u201dHow will my day flow now\u201d. \u00a0Time has slipped by noticeably and I wonder.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s OK to be still. Good to think and explore. Change doesn\u2019t have to feel like a weight .\u00a0 It could be as light as air.<\/p>\n

Light and air. A friend spoke of that at a forum I go to. Just the words brought up a wonderful image.<\/p>\n

It also brought up an interesting and wonderful memory.<\/p>\n

I used to have a Fear of being in water over my head. I didn’t want to continue to have this fear when I had children. So I took classes at the local Y in Quincy.\u00a0\u00a0 I slowly worked on relaxing and taking it in.\u00a0 Focusing on lessening the panic and replacing it with some comfort and skill.<\/p>\n

Interesting to note: If I was in the shallower end of a pool and under water swimming I was just fine, like on a cloud. So the Fear was just a security issue when stopped in place.<\/p>\n

When the students and I had met our goals, the instructor had us \u00a0try an “easy going” dive in from the edge of pool into the deep end. I dove in and actually did a somersault under water ( guess i bent alot in the dive) but straightened out beautifully. During that slight moment of “fog” I just floated for a moment, like on a cloud. In that moment I noticed where the light was coming from: \u00a0\u00a0Above at the surface.\u00a0 I swam to it. I wasn’t the least bit out of breathe either. It was amazing. What a situation to come through.\u00a0 So empowering and peaceful at the same time.<\/p>\n

Fear tends to leave one at a stand still.\u00a0 It ‘s part of “Natures protective tool”.<\/p>\n

Yet when there\u2019s no fear to fear, we can find a way to move again and move forward.<\/p>\n

“Sleeping Fox” is a pastel painting of a red fox.<\/p>\n

This Red Fox was done from a picture I did at\u00a0 The Trailside Museum in Milton, MA.\u00a0 The Trailside museum is where one can get an up close look at wild animals common to the Northeast region of the U.S.A. and learn about them.<\/p>\n

One day I did some sketching of some of the animals there.<\/p>\n

At the Arts in the Park in Randolph, I decided to do a demonstration with my fox sketch, and made this pastel painting.<\/p>\n

\u201cSleeping Fox<\/a>\u201d pastel painting is for sale.\u00a0 There are prints<\/a> of this image for purchase too.<\/p>\n
