I like to sit curled up in a blanket on the couch and watch the snow fall outside our window. I’m nice and warm in my blanket. Outside it’s cold. Snowflakes dance and lightly fall to the ground.
There’s a need to stay inside and warm. My energy level tends to be on the low side, and I feel like not doing much of anything, but sit and gaze out the window
There is a sense of stillness, watching the snow fall.
I’m reminded to be present in the moment and let things unfold. So often in business we set goals, and timelines to meet. Yet there are times when things aren’t going right or flowing the way we had anticipated. That’s when we need to step aside and relax to stay open to the
opportunities.
In creating art work, I find that being open and letting things unfold as they may is necessary. I may have an idea of what I want to create and how it should look. Yet sometimes it doesn’t quite work when I am working on it. I get frustrated. Sometimes I’ll put it aside and go do
something else. And sometimes I will throw out the paper.
I’ll eventually start again, when I’m calm. I will relax and decide not to go with my first envision of what I wanted to create. Instead, I’ll be still for a moment and then let my creative juices flow to create what the artwork will be.
That’s usually when I create the best art – when I am open to the possibilities, instead of trying to dictate them. The artwork is always so much better than I could have imagined. Sometimes it takes being quiet to get to that state.

Best,
LG

Feature Art:

Scratch board

Art News

“Le Cadeau du Cheval“
Several artists in the Equine Art Guild were a part of this unique tribute to the horse.
