This past week one of our Uncles passed away.
It was a beautiful service.
Though there was snow and slush, we walked where we could in the cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The one thing that is always present is Love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


One of my favorite passages is “When I Die” by Merrit Malloy<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cWhen I Die<\/strong>“
Give what\u2019s left of me away
To children
And old men that wait to die.
And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give to them
What you need to give to me.
I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.
Look for me
In the people I\u2019ve known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live in your eyes
And not on your mind.
You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands
By letting
Bodies touch bodies
And by letting go
Of children
That need to be free.
Love doesn\u2019t die,
People do.
So, when all that\u2019s left of me
Is love,
Give me away\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soldier Portraits<\/strong>
Darla Dixon organized a group of artists who will create no-charge compassionate
portraits for the families who have lost a loved one in Operation Iraqi Freedom\/Operation
Enduring Freedom. We are looking for artists to join our efforts, and also for non-artists
who will help spread the word about this free service and token of our gratitude to families
who have sacrificed so much.\u201d
