{"id":329,"date":"2010-05-07T20:05:43","date_gmt":"2010-05-07T20:05:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lisasart.com\/blog\/?p=329"},"modified":"2010-05-07T20:05:43","modified_gmt":"2010-05-07T20:05:43","slug":"choosing-mediums","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lisasart.com\/blog\/choosing-mediums\/","title":{"rendered":"Choosing Mediums"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201c<strong>Choosing Mediums<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I recently got a question from a young girl about being an artist and creating.\u00a0 Her question was, \u201cWhat mediums have I used and liked?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I would like to explain at the start that it was over many years that I practiced and perfected my skills.<\/p>\n<p>I started rather young and really liked it, so I spent a lot time learning and practicing drawing and \u00a0painting.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve worked with some mediums regularly over the years while other mediums I\u2019ve worked with for a short time then put them aside.<\/p>\n<p><em>So what mediums have I liked and used?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve dappled in a number of different mediums.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oils, acrylics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For a short time when I was young\u00a0 I took oil painting lessons with a local artist. \u00a0I liked the freedom of brush and paint on a canvas.<\/p>\n<p>Though I liked oil painting, I decided after a while to put it aside and move on.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also done some work in acrylics and liked it, but didn\u2019t really stay with it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charcoal, Pastels<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lisasart.com\/jumperheadfinal.jpg\" alt=\"jumper head\" width=\"148\" height=\"121\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lisasart.com\/missy_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"missy pastel\" width=\"80\" height=\"118\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve always enjoyed and still do charcoal drawings.<\/p>\n<p>I like the feel of charcoal and the soft lines it can create.<\/p>\n<p>About 15 years ago, I got into pastels. I like the feel of the chalk like sticks of Nupastels.\u00a0 I\u2019ve done a number of portraits over the years using this medium.<\/p>\n<p><strong>C<\/strong><strong>o<\/strong><strong>lor Pencil<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve done some work with colored pencils too.
