{"id":393,"date":"2010-09-11T23:27:04","date_gmt":"2010-09-11T23:27:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lisasart.com\/blog\/?p=393"},"modified":"2010-09-16T20:45:20","modified_gmt":"2010-09-16T20:45:20","slug":"community-and-opportunity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lisasart.com\/blog\/community-and-opportunity\/","title":{"rendered":"Community and Opportunity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Autumn<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommunity and Opportunity\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve been in RI for a few years now.\u00a0 The longer we&#8217;ve been here, the more sense of\u00a0 community I have felt. \u00a0We have friends we\u2019ve gotten to know, and many groups we\u2019ve been involved with.<\/p>\n<p>When Emily was a toddler I joined a mom&#8217;s group.\u00a0 I attended events and meetings and made some great friends.\u00a0 I was the secretary of that group for two years and really enjoyed being a part of it.<\/p>\n<p>I started to get involved with other groups over time as well.\u00a0 I joined a business networking group where I met other business owners.\u00a0 An online Women\u2019s Business Owners group formed, and I became active with them.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m so thankful for these people\u00a0 I\u2019ve met ,and look forward to meeting many others.<\/p>\n<p>This year I\u2019m on the board of the PTO at our kids school.\u00a0 Though I am a little nervous, I know it\u2019s another opportunity to be an active part of the community.\u00a0 There\u2019s always a need to be part of the community.\u00a0\u00a0 Community brings people together to share and help each other.<\/p>\n<p>I feel my connection with the local art community is growing too.\u00a0 With my exhibit at BankRI I was able to show my work and meet people, which was very exciting.<\/p>\n<p>I also joined the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pawtucketartscollaborative.org\/\">Pawtucket Art Collaborative<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 They\u2019re a local arts community in Pawtucket.\u00a0 It\u2019s a group where artists can get together and bring the arts to the community through shows.<\/p>\n<p>Every August through Sept. the group puts on \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pawtucketartsfestival.org\/\">The Pawtucket Arts Festival<\/a>&#8220;. \u00a0 There are art shows, music, and performances as well as many other events.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m participating in the Festival&#8217;s Open Studio Days.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be exhibiting my work on Sept. 25th and 26th.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s wonderful to be a part of the events going on and especially seeing and meeting others at these events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feature Art\/product<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lisasart.com\/scratchboard.html\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lisasart.com\/africanelephant.jpg\" alt=\"african elephant scratch board\" width=\"321\" height=\"254\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lisasart.com\/scratchboard.html\">African Elephant<\/a>&#8221; is my one of\u00a0 scratch board image I created from a photo I took at the zoo of the African Elephants.<\/p>\n<p>This art work is the cover image of\u00a0 &#8220;White on Black&#8221; 2011 calendar, which will be available for purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Purchase &#8220;White on Black&#8221; 2011 calendar at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lulu.com\/product\/calendar\/white-on-black\/12662988\">lulu.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can see the other scratch board works at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lisasart.com\/scratchboard.html\">my Scratch Board page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll be exhibiting my works in September at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pawtucketartsfestival.org\/\">Pawtucket Arts Festivals<\/a> Open Studios days.\u00a0 See info in <strong>Art News<\/strong> below.<\/p>\n<p>Check out Great Gift items at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lisasart.com\/\">Lisa&#8217;s Art &amp; Horses<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Please feel free to contact me with questions on art\/products and\/or comments at lisa@lisasart.com<\/p>\n<p><strong>Art\u00a0 News <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Lisa Guarino<\/strong>, dba Lisa&#8217;s Art &amp; Horses<\/p>\n<p>Exhibit at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pawtucketartsfestival.org\/\"><strong>Pawtucket Arts Festival<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Open Studio Days:<\/p>\n<p>September 25, 11:00am- 5:00pm<\/p>\n<p>September 26, 11:00am- 5:00pm<\/p>\n<p>558-560 Mineral   Spring Ave., Pawtucket, RI<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Equine Art Guild&#8217;s News<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.muralmosaic.com\/Cadeau.html\"><\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lisasart.com\/mm-mosaic.jpg\" alt=\"Le cadeau du cheval\" width=\"287\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.muralmosaic.com\/Cadeau.html\">Le Cadeau du Cheval<\/a>&#8220;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Several artists in the EAG were a part of this unique tribute to the horse.
