Happy Holidays<\/p>\n

“A Light within Us”<\/p>\n

We enter the season of winter.\u00a0 The daylight hours are shorter. The dark hours and night time are longer.\u00a0 Is it no wonder then that the holidays we celebrate in December involve light in some way or another.<\/p>\n

We might consider that long ago, Man discovered how to control fire in a way that helped him.\u00a0 The light of Fire brought light to long nights in winter.\u00a0 The light of fire gave warmth in cold weather.\u00a0 The fire gave us a way to prepare food for consumption over a period of time.<\/p>\n

Light has also inspired us in many ways.<\/p>\n

Light is a symbol of Hope.
\nLight is a symbol of remembrance.
\nLight is a way to see through darkness and is often reflected upon during a dark time.<\/p>\n

We can do our own inner work with the idea of light or a flame within us.\u00a0 We can open our mind to ask questions as:
\n\u201cWhat do we want?\u201d
\n\u201cHow can we be in the world?\u201d<\/p>\n

We can explore our inner fire and flame so that we may shine.
\nAnd intertestingly enough, when we shine we let others know they can shine too.<\/p>\n

\nYou are a child of God, small games do not work in this world. For those around us to feel peace, it is not example to make ourselves small. We were born to express the glory of god that lives in us. It is not in some of us, it is in all of us. While we allow our light to shine, we unconsciously give permission for others to do the same. When we liberate ourselves from our own fears, simply our presence may liberate others.\u2019”

\nDarla Dixon organized a group of artists who will create no-charge compassionate portraits for the families who have lost a loved one in Operation Iraqi Freedom\/Operation Enduring Freedom. We are looking for artists to join our efforts, and also for non-artists who will help spread the word about this free service and token of our gratitude to families who have sacrificed so much.”<\/p>\n
