Happy New Year
“See the Good”
A new year.
The month of December was and usually is a time for me (and of course for a lot of people) to reflect on the past year. One could easily quote the movie title here, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. Reflecting can bring up the good, bad and, hopefully not so much, the ugly memories. Sorting through them can clear one’s mind.
Sometimes we find it too easy to look at what went wrong, or what went bad. We should reflect on the good memories as well. Those good things should be looked at and given attention.
There was a time in my life, quite a while ago, where I had a lot of challenges. I remember thinking, “This is not what I want in the future”. At that time one of the things I had to do was to break off a relationship I was in. And I did.
As I worked through the feelings of seeing what I didn’t want, there came a point I found where it occurred to me that I had to make a decision. “What do I really want?”.
With effort over time, I have achieved what I do want.
Life does have its twist and turns, yet we can make decisions that change it for the better to have more of what we really want.
PS: oh I thought I’d share one other thing.
My youngest daughter at times has mentioned she likes the piano.
Well, presently, we don’t have a keyboard, The one we had died,
So she downloaded a Piano App to her phone. She is liking it a little.
Yet for me an App just doesn’t quite do it. I tried the piano app, yes. But after having had piano lessons when I was young for five years and enjoying playing the piano, the App just didn’t cut it,
Similar to some people who still like to pick up a book and hold it, and turn the pages as they read. There’s something wonderful about holding and feeling something physical. Well, that’s what happens to me when I play a real piano. I like sitting down on the piano bench, feeling the keys under my fingers. I know enough to know what sound each key makes. I hit a key to hear that note. Then further it to hitting more keys and playing them to hear the music that I want to hear.
I’m sharing a short YouTube video:
Perfectly Imperfect
This was taken a couple years ago when I was feeling a need to get more out of my comfort zone.
Best,
LG
