Happy New year
“What’s in your BHAG?”
(like in Capital One commercial)
A new year has begun. And we’re here. Isn’t it great?
OK, you probably did think the negative doom and gloom’s day prediction was just a “thing” to throw away. It didn’t serve any of us. Dump it.
We’re alive and well. And our journeys continue on.
Now what?
Well.
Now that we have time and our journey continues ahead, “What will we do”?
We’re here. We have gifts and talents.
What to do?
I’ve been taking time to think about my gifts and talents. Wondering how I could really be of service with my art more than I have.
I thought of what I have done before. I looked way back and then to the present.
Drawing with those 6th grade classmates,
drawing with my cousin,
building EQUUS masks for a theater production,
portraits,
artworks, prints,
etc.
I also love nature and animals.
How does it all fit into a BHAG?
BHAG: a Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal.
In one conversation I had a while back I was asked what my dream was. I said I wanted to share my art with the world.
Well perhaps it’s too general a dream.
How can it be more specific?
Think, think – like Pooh.
How would or can my art be of service?
Deep thinking.
This occurred to me today.
I can show people the beauty of nature. And the idea that we’re all connected in some way or other in this world.
I can also help inspire others to connect with their own nature and be their own beautiful self.
If this resonates, let me know.
Martin Luther King Jr. had a Big Dream.
Maybe we need to follow in stating our own Big, Hairy Audacious Goal- Dream too.
The flag waves.

Soldier Portraits
Darla Dixon organized a group of artists who will create no-charge compassionate portraits for the families who have lost a loved one in Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom. We are looking for artists to join our efforts, and also for non-artists who will help spread the word about this free service and token of our gratitude to families who have sacrificed so much.”
