“Be Present ”

I stand at the end of the beach and feel the wet, muddy sand in my toes. I enjoy the moment the waves wash over my feet.

I breathe in a whiff of the salty air.

I look at the face of the person next to me and smile. For a moment they just look at me. Then they smile a little, too.

I talk softly to the horse. I let them smell the brush i am holding. I then brush them. Horse brings it’s soft nose to me. Then breathes a relaxation sigh.

It’s being in the moment that is the gift- the present.

It grounds me.

I can feel Ok in that moment.

Take time to be present in any day.

Darla Dixon organized a group of artists who will create no-charge compassionate portraits for the families who have lost a loved one in Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom. We are looking for artists to join our efforts, and also for non-artists who will help spread the word about this free service and token of our gratitude to families who have sacrificed so much.”
