Happy Autumn

“Community and Opportunity”

We’ve been in RI for a few years now.  The longer we’ve been here, the more sense of  community I have felt.  We have friends we’ve gotten to know, and many groups we’ve been involved with.

When Emily was a toddler I joined a mom’s group.  I attended events and meetings and made some great friends.  I was the secretary of that group for two years and really enjoyed being a part of it.

I started to get involved with other groups over time as well.  I joined a business networking group where I met other business owners.  An online Women’s Business Owners group formed, and I became active with them.

I’m so thankful for these people  I’ve met ,and look forward to meeting many others.

This year I’m on the board of the PTO at our kids school.  Though I am a little nervous, I know it’s another opportunity to be an active part of the community.  There’s always a need to be part of the community.   Community brings people together to share and help each other.

I feel my connection with the local art community is growing too.  With my exhibit at BankRI I was able to show my work and meet people, which was very exciting.

I also joined the Pawtucket Art Collaborative.   They’re a local arts community in Pawtucket.  It’s a group where artists can get together and bring the arts to the community through shows.

Every August through Sept. the group puts on “The Pawtucket Arts Festival“.   There are art shows, music, and performances as well as many other events.

I’m participating in the Festival’s Open Studio Days.  I’ll be exhibiting my work on Sept. 25th and 26th.

It’s wonderful to be a part of the events going on and especially seeing and meeting others at these events.

Soldier Portraits
Darla Dixon organized a group of artists who will create no-charge compassionate portraits for the families who have lost a loved one in Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom. We are looking for artists to join our efforts, and also for non-artists who will help spread the word about this free service and token of our gratitude to families who have sacrificed so much.”

  1. It is nice to now finally find a site where the blogger knows really well about his subject.

  2. You truly make it seem so easy with your presentation, but I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too rarified and very broad for me. I am looking ahead for your next post; I will try to get the knack of it.

  3. This is the GREATEST post I have read this month???
