“The Process, The Beauty”
Time seems to pass quickly when you’re busy.
October seemed to just fly by.
Sorry for not touching base with a newsletter last month.
I got caught up in some great projects.
One of the projects was a painted saddle.
It started with a painted saddle we saw on Facebook.
From there, I collaborated with founder and President of “Horses Bring Hope”, Dina Godinez, on painting a saddle for their October Gala event.
As I do with any project, I research what’s involved, choose material and supplies for the project, and then put my artistic skills to work to bring that project to completion.
“The Process”
I looked up what others have done to paint a saddle in the past.
I used light sanding paper to take off the top shine and create a surface that paint would adhere to. I rubbed rubbing alcohol to condition the leather surface.
I decided what kind of design and details I would paint. And then went ahead with painting.
I sprayed all the painted areas with a finish.
“The Beauty”
Having completed the project, I then shared it with my client.
This is probably the best part by far.
There is a wonderful sense of connection, when I share my art with others.
Creating gives me the chance to express myself.
Sharing what I have created opens communication between me and the people I share it with.
It’s a great feeling.
What is double the fun for me as a parent is seeing my girls enjoying a creative project.
For Halloween they thought up ideas, gathered material and supplies and created their own costumes.
We had a lot of fun Trick or Treating with friends and walking the neighborhood.
So grateful.

Soldier Portraits
Darla Dixon organized a group of artists who will create no-charge compassionate portraits
for the families who have lost a loved one in Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring
Freedom. We are looking for artists to join our efforts, and also for non-artists who will help
spread the word about this free service and token of our gratitude to families who have
sacrificed so much.”
